The Monhollon Homesteaders is a biography of the life of western pioneers Isaiah and Etta Monhollon, who participated in the Oklahoma Land Run, encountered Jesse and Frank James, and raised five children while surviving drought and the Dust Bowl Days. Inspired by her mother's journal, author Diane Thaxton Baublits spent nearly 15 years researching her family genealogy in preparation of writing this book. Mrs. Baublits was born and raised in Las Animas, Colorado where she raised three children, taught high school speech and English, served as an assistant principal, and worked as the district media specialist. She and her husband Bill recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.
